| Claudia Christian played one of the most significant characters in television SF history: the bisexual Commander Susan Ivanova, second in command on Babylon 5. But her website also pays tribute to a vast range of acting jobs that this actress has enjoyed. More than than, it includes some stunning music and photographs of an elegant woman. You can even register for her electronic newsletter. Try http://www.claudiachristian.net/ |

Black Women are Beautiful. So how come you don't see them in Science-Fiction? So begins this interesting website. It lists those series which include black women ("Blake's 7", original "Star Trek" and "UFO" are obvious examples) and those shows which do not (eg. "Babylon 5" and most "Star Trek"). This page is challenging and its few words convey a deeper message than might first appear. Find it at www.firsttvdrama.com/central/bgirls.php3 |
| Here's one for a feast of the mind . This is an Index to Female Writers In Science Fiction, Fantasy & Utopia: 18th Century to the Present. It contains some useful (and perhaps somewhat revealing) lists of feminist writers, non-English-language feminist SF writers, even lesbian writers. These pages of text have interesting potential as a starting point for research or to look for other links. Try www.feministsf.org/femsf/authors/wsfwriters.html |

Here is a website that demonstrates a writer and creator at work. Melissa Scott has a lot of material which ranges from autobiographical and bibliographical information to a list of her upcoming writing workshops. See elsewhere in this publication for an interview which demonstrates the depth of her thoughts about a range of topics. Try her website at http://www.rscs.net/~ms001/mainpage.html |
| The marvellous Lieutenant Uhura from "Star Trek", and the real life actress who portrayed her, were positive role models to so many people for so many reasons. This website is full of material relating to Nichelle Nichols and her fictional creations (including character and books). Lots of great links to other "Star Trek" websites too. Enter this wondrous website at www.uhura.com/ |
